Cleburne County High School's Mission

We, the faculty, administration, and staff of Cleburne County High School, in cooperation with the entire community, believe it is our obligation to prepare the youth of today to be contributing citizens of tomorrow.  We believe students should be provided with the opportunity to gain an education which is suited to their individual needs, dependent upon their choices and interests-regardless of race, sex or socioeconomic status.

We believe that community resources, the school staff, and the home contribute to the development of the whole child.  We believe that cooperation and effective communication among all involved have impact on the child and are essential for reaching the goals of educational growth and community involvement.

Our school offers four educational programs of study:

  1. a college preparatory curriculum including an advanced and an honors program for students to excel academically;
  2. a general curriculum for those students who may not plan to attend college;
  3. a vocational program for those seeking career and skilled training;
  4. a special education program for students with mental retardation, emotional disturbance, specific learning disabilities, speech impairments, other health impairments, as well as academic giftedness.

Cleburne County High School's Goals

In accordance with the stated beliefs and mission, the faculty of Cleburne County High School has established these goals:

 

  • To provide each student with the opportunity and support necessary to acquire proficiency and operate at the highest level of its abilities;
  • To provide opportunities for aesthetic and cultural experiences;
  • To help each student develop a sense of respect toward authority in the home, school, community, and nation;
  • To develop within each student positive self-esteem and impress upon him that he respect the worth and dignity of every individual;
  • To gain knowledge of citizenship and understanding of the privileges and responsibilities in a democratic society in order to guide the student to assume the duties and obligations of a good citizen therein;
  • To provide appropriate learning experiences for the exceptional students in the least restrictive environment;
  • To provide a foundation commensurate with the demands of a constantly changing technological society;
  • To re-evaluate teaching methods and materials often so students may be better served by current educational trends;
  • To promote the development and expectation of self-discipline and a deep sense of responsibility for one’s own actions;
  • To provide methods of instruction with a planned scope and sequence which correlates with the Alabama Course of Study and the Alabama High School Graduation Exam;
  • To encourage enthusiasm and cooperation among parents, community members, school faculty, staff, and students;
  • To provide a safe and orderly environment for all students and staff;
  • To provide the student with the opportunity to acquire the skills, knowledge, understanding, and attitudes necessary for higher education, vocations, and everyday living;
  • To encourage community involvement and cooperation in promoting school functions, activities, and organizations, and
  • To establish harmonious relationships between the school and community and to adjust to changing times and world conditions as needs for adjustment arise.
  • To make available the educational resources our state has to offer to develop a well-rounded student.
